"슬픔을 찍겠어요." 근자에 내가 지도하는 학생이 포트폴리오 주제로 삼겠다며 내게 한 말이다. -_-;;
결국 연출사진을 하겠단 이야긴데, 개인적으론 연출된 사진들이 적절한 주제로 알맞는 언어를 구사하지 않으면 놀랍게도. 유명하든 아니든 별 차이를 못느끼겠다는. 아래의 것도 그렇단.
키치스런 카니발이란 얼개이외의 것은 느끼기가 쩜. 더불어 사진이어야 하는 이유도 별로. 단편 영화로 제작하는 것이 더 낫잖았을까.

천국과 지옥은 어느 곳에나, 누구에게나 있다. 좋고, 나쁜 사람이나, 아름다고 추한 사람이나, 어느 인종, 어떻게 보이건 간에, 수다를 떨거나 침묵 하건 간에, 듣거나 말하는 사람이건 간에, 젊거나 중년이거나 간에, 유색인거나 백인이거나 간에, 예술을 사랑하거나 미워하거나 간에, 웃거나 놀라거나 간에, 똑똑하거나 바보스럽거나 간에, 혁신주의자거나 보수주의자 간에, 여흥을 원하고 아이들처럼 꿈을 키우는 신비스러움과 이야기와 재미에 관심이 있는 모든 사람을 위한 사진.
브리트 룬드키스트는 평범한 주부 사진가로 출발했다. 위스콘신대학에서 90년대 초반에 사진을 시작하여 처음에는 보도사진에 관심을 가져으나 곧 자신이 그쪽 보다는 이미지를 구성하고 가공하는데 더 재주가 있다는 것을 알고 초현실주의적이고 신비스러운 이미지 창조에 본격적으로 나서기 시작했다. 그렇게 하여 곧 패션적이고 여흥 및 유희적인 소재들을 찾기 시작했으며 나아가 지극히 개인적이고 일상적인 팝(POP)적 캐릭터에 몰두하기 시작했다. 여기 [천국과 지옥 사이에] 시리즈는 그것들의 결실을 가시적으로 보여준 사진들이다. 크로스 프로세싱 현상을 통해서 강력하고 개성 있는 컬러를 창조했으며, 그 같은 초현실적이고, 신비주의적이고 또 다분히 팝적인 여흥과 여가의 키치들이 잘 어울려 보는 사람들에게그녀만의 독특한 예술적 미감과 리얼리티를 창조하고 있다. 브리트 룬드키스트는 현재 미네소타에 살고 있다. □ 현대사진연구소

Britt Lundquist began her career in the early 1990s while pursuing a journalism degree at UW-River Falls. In 1993, she decided to bring her experience and talent for capturing not just the image, but also the essential nature of her subjects to the world of fashion and entertainment. Often working with celebrity personalities, Britt's current work blends character-driven pop photography with innovative and entertaining set design and outrageous costume. Free from digital manipulation, Britt creates fantasy defined by vibrant color and rhythmic imagery and invites the viewer to see how the surreal world can often show signs of reality. She resides in Minnesota
